Reviews of Horse and Mill Guest house and pub

Similar to the Victoria Hotel in Craddock, our accommodation was a terraced cottage/apartment in a row-house series along the side of a quiet street just off the main village high street. Large room, terrace and patio front and back, very comfortable. Very cat-friendly and we were adopted by a young cat who moved in with us for our one-night stay, during which he chased away his associates. Gave us a reason to go shopping for some cat food on the main street with its large grocery stores, 2 or 3 restaurants and nice tea house. The old Horse and Mill pub is a separate business, but a real local, friendly staff, suspicious locals, where we ate pub food. Colesberg is a leafy community and, like Craddock, a good stop on a long drive from Port Elizabeth to Bloemfontein.
Linen was great. Very clean and spacious!
Good location
Convenient walking distance to various restaurants
Convenient stop over to Jhb. Clean and comfortable, friendly check-in. Good atmosphere at the pub and restaurant.
Jackie, the owner was so helpful and we appreciated being able to have a little garden for our dogs.
Clean and comfortable. I liked it.
Large rooms with equally large bed. The off street secure parking gave peace of mind as I was travelling with a fair amount of products in my van.

The first room I was shown would have seen traffic driving right past me. It also did not have a desk for working at. The owner immediately offered me another room and moved me to it at no extra cost, so all ended well :)
Friendly service at the right price
Very good place for one night while traveling through this area.
There was a restaurant on the premises that served an adequate supper and breakfast.
We did not get the rooms we had booked
Safe parking. Large room with stoep. Close to good restaurants. Owner very helpful and friendly.
Lovely room with all you needed.
Will definitely stay at horse and mill again Friendly and welcoming reception Clean rooms and comfortable Definitely great equipped for the cold with the aircon and electric blankets.
Next time please give the correct room I have booked a deluxe room with shower And i got a family room Not a problem at all Just a suggestion look at placing hand wash at the basin needed to get in the shower to get soap to wash my hands
A great location when looking for a convenient overnight stop between JHB and CT
Very nice comfortable accommodation and lovely hosts. Really enjoyed and can highly recommend
Location is great! Nice please for a quick lay over between Jo’burg and Cape Town. Bar next door was a bonus for a night cup
It was cold in Colesberg and I was pleasantly surprised to find the room had a wall panel heater as well as air conditioner. An added bonus was the electric blanket. The room was excellent and suited my needs. The secure parking area was a big plus.
There was nothing I disliked about the room. The restaurant/pub was lively and had a friendly atmosphere. However, for a non smoker it was a bit "smokey" for me. But I accepted that it was a pub and people would smoke whilst having a drink and conversation. I enjoyed the beer I ordered. The bar attendant ladies were really friendly.
Location suited my purpose and access from the N1 easy.
The hosts were super friendly, went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. Secure parking was a plus, an all round great experience, we will certainly stop there again and recommend it to others.
friendly staff and clean rooms

Everything is close by

There is a restaurant on the property so you dont need to go out in the car again to find one when you have spent the whole day travelling from the West Coast and are reallym tired. Food is good! They go out of their way to give you free safe, secure parking - we had a Jeep and a trailer anbd both were accommodated. We asked for a Queen-sized bed or larger, and they gave us one!
